DrAxeman
All of this happens when: [root@vergason phpMyAdmin-2.3.2]# mysql -u alex -h 192.168.0.203 ERROR 2013: Lost connection to MySQL server during query (NOTE: a password is required) Link to comment https://forums.phpfreaks.com/topic/145-mysql-connection-error/#findComment-433 Share on other sites
effigy
does that command ever prompt you for a password? if not, add a -p switch. you may also take a look at your my.cnf regarding timeouts - i do not know much regarding remote issues  Link to comment https://forums.phpfreaks.com/topic/145-mysql-connection-error/#findComment-434 Share on other sites
DrAxeman
It never asked for a password. It just kicks out the error. When I use the -p option it will ask for one, and then give the error. I can connect from the console of my MySQL server. DrAxeman
Some versions of MySQL will crash when attempting to perform a DNS lookup. Hence it was crashing when trying to resovle alex.vergason.com... when I places the placed the following entry into the /etc/hosts file everything worked just fine. 192.168.0.77 alex.vergason.com Strange, but a workaround none the less.
