I am having serious problems with this MySQL thingy.

I need to dump the contents of a database, but I have 2 problems.

1.) I try to run the mysql.exe from the \'bin\' folder and it starts but then the window dissappears.

2.) When I do the mysqldump i get GOT error: 1045 : Access denied for user \'ODBC@localhost\' (Using password YES) when trying to connect

I have also tried other users such as \'root@localhost\' and the results are similar

I have updated the password several times and I\'m quite sure that I got the right one. Please help.

Mario.

To create a dump

goto command prompt

c:>cd mysqlbin

c:mysqlbin>mysql -u root

mysql>

and now in this you have to call the mysqldump command.

Have a look at this link and you will know how its done

Gentelemen, I truly appreciate the input from both of you, but my problem persists.

When I attempted one of your solutions I got this

C:Documents and SettingsMario> C:mysqlbin>mysqldump database > \"C:myfolderexport.sql

The system cannot find the path specified.

Another attempt yielded this

C:Documents and SettingsMario>C:>cd mysqlbin

\'C:\' is not recognized as an internal or external command,

operable program or batch file.

When I attempted to raise the mysql prompt (then I know I can do the dump) this is what I got:

C:Documents and SettingsMario> C:>cd mysqlbin

\'C:\' is not recognized as an internal or external command,

operable program or batch file.

If you can provide further input I would in your debt.

Mario

When I attempted one of your solutions I got this

C:Documents and SettingsMario> C:mysqlbin>mysqldump database > \"C:myfolderexport.sql

The system cannot find the path specified.

If this is what you did then it\'s clear what the problem is:

This line: C:mysqlbin>mysqldump

Should be

C:mysqlbinmysqldump

You are simply trying to specify the path to the mysqldump command here.

So the correct full line should be:

C:mysqlbinmysqldump database > C:myfolderexport.sql

This calls mysqldump and redirects output to the file c:myfolderexport.sql

I\'m one step closer... When I followed gizmola\'s (thank you) advice this is what I got

C:Documents and SettingsMario> C:mysqlbinmysqldump db_yucatica > C:tempex

port.sql

C:mysqlbinmysqldump: Got error: 1045: Access denied for user: \'ODBC@localhost

\' (Using password: NO) when trying to connect

When I checked the temp folder there was a file \'export.sql\' which means that when I get the password problem right I will get the database dump.

So if you can, please help with my password problem, I constantly refer to the MySQL documentation but have found no solution yet.
