kickstart
Hi Using my Vista laptop this evening it was working fine. Did a minor change to script and suddenly Firefox claims not to be able to find the page. Rebooted the machine and no change. Try Opera and IE and they cannot find it either. Playing around if I go to IP address 127.0.0.1 in a browser I get a WAMP screen with the various projects in it. I can go into them from there. However if I try localhost it goes off looking for www.localhost.com and fails. If I ping 127.0.0.1 it gets a reply from 127.0.0.1. If I ping localhost it looks for "::1". What have I done wrong! ??? corbin
Have you changed C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts? There should be an entry in there that says: 127.0.0.1 localhost If I remember right, ::1 is the IPv6 version of localhost. Mchl
I experienced this once as well. Something modified my hosts file on Vista and added 127.0.0.1 ::1 no idea how it happened. You need to have administrative privileges to edit hosts file. kickstart
Hi Checked it and no sign of that line there. Added it and rebooted and it works now. Not a clue how that had got changed. Thankyou VERY much for your fast response.
