I would be very grateful if anyone could pass me a recommendation, as in the past I have typically preferred writing what I can myself. In this case I would like some of the core bases covered so I can spend my time on project's more unique attributes. My needs are simple. A solid user system, including usual functions like registration, login, approval and logging. A simple mail system, allowing users to communicate with each other and receive notifications from the site administration. An unobtrusive front end that can be discarded and rebuilt without too much bother. Any comments appreciated. Sorry if this was not the appropriate place to post this. I'm not sure how appropriate it is for this task though. No user registration or mail system off the bat...
