A server is a computer. What OS are you using and what installation steps have you taken?

The computer that the IT tech at our school uses has leopard and she says that PHP 4 is on it but it has trouble running with the MySQL program, but she also won't let anyone have any freedom

You need mysql running on the same machine that your webserver is running on. (Well, thats not exactly true, but its the most common setup).

k thanks i dont know how thats going to go with her cuz she's kind of obsessed with her own little stuff but thanks anyways
