Need help finding name availability script and pre-populated database

Hey all,

 

Could you help find a name availability checking script?

 

I'm also (and most importantly) looking for a database of common terms and phrases that would be offensive as well as common company names so that we don't have any trademark conflicts with companies.

 

We're working on creating a site for a non-profit that is going to let people create their own domain name i.e. newname.domainname.com where newname is what they are creating their unique name for.

Store the taken names somewhere. When somebody enters a name, check if it's in the database. If it is then it's taken, otherwise it's available.
