pal_12
Hello every body, I wanted to change some options in the httpd.conf file. After changing the options and saving the file, the content of the file were overriden with different values. The httpd service is down and can not be restarted due to (synax) failures in the overriden httpd.conf file. I have a backup file for the original httpd.conf file but Rediting the file does not work because every time I reset the original httpd.conf file it will be overriden. My question is: How can I stop the automatic overriding of the config file or if there is a possible way to reconfigure the httpd.conf file ? I am not expert in apache web server. Thank you very much Quote Link to comment https://forums.phpfreaks.com/topic/155718-problem-with-httpdconf-file/ Share on other sites
steviewdr
It should be easy enough to fix the syntax errors. What errors are you getting when trying to start httpd? -steve Quote Link to comment https://forums.phpfreaks.com/topic/155718-problem-with-httpdconf-file/#findComment-820217 Share on other sites
pal_12
It should be easy enough to fix the syntax errors. What errors are you getting when trying to start httpd? -steve Thank you Steve, The problem is not the errors. The problem is that I can not save the original httpd.config file, when I try to reconfigure the httpd in order to restore the original options. It will be always overridden. I am using virtuozzo control panel to access the server. I may need to stop the service which overrides the httpd.config file, but I do not know which service is responsible for the overriding. Thanks again Quote Link to comment https://forums.phpfreaks.com/topic/155718-problem-with-httpdconf-file/#findComment-820285 Share on other sites
steviewdr
Ah - I see. Well your best bet would be to contact your hosting company about virtuozzo. They should know the answer straight away. You might not be able to edit the file directly. You'll probably have to use some GUI within virtuozzo to change the settings. -steve Quote Link to comment https://forums.phpfreaks.com/topic/155718-problem-with-httpdconf-file/#findComment-820739 Share on other sites

The hosting company offers unmaneged servers and do not assist in such cases. I am looking for a new hosting company who are ready to help in urgent cases Best regards Quote Link to comment https://forums.phpfreaks.com/topic/155718-problem-with-httpdconf-file/#findComment-821031 Share on other sites
steviewdr
In my opinion unmanaged means: Any technician from the hosting company will not log on to your server or fix something for you. The should provide some level of support! Especially when they are using virtuozzo containers. I'd ask them and see. Make sure your first question is, "How much would it cost" in case they do try to slap a charge on you. If they're still not going to help you, start googling yourself for virtuozzo etc. -steve Quote Link to comment https://forums.phpfreaks.com/topic/155718-problem-with-httpdconf-file/#findComment-821739 Share on other sites

Instead of editing the conf file using the virtozzo cpanel editor, edit it on your local machine and upload it:) Problem solved !!!
