However, because many of the tags will remain the same, current browsers should be able to do a pretty good job of rendering HTML 5, although there may be problems that occur. HTML and XHTML have always been separate. They're subsets of two different languages (respectively SGML and XML) although they syntactically could be said to be very like each other. As far as I'm concerned, XHTML 2.0 is dead, which, in addition to other things, is also why I advocate the use of HTML instead of XHTML.
