I have a php code that I am using to include an html file, randomly, from a directory that it is linked to. It works really well, except for that every so often it does not display anything. I checked and made sure that there were only valid files that could be placed in that directory but it still acts up about every 6th time it loads (there are only 6 html files it is pulling from in the directory).

Here is the php code, any help?

<?php
$path = 'gal_randomized/'; // directory path
$handle = opendir ($path);
while (($filename = readdir ($handle)) !== false)
{
if ($filename != '.' && $filename != '..')
{
$file_array[] = $filename;
}
}

$rand = rand (0, count ($file_array));
include ($path . $file_array[$rand]);
?>

Thanks in advance!

The first array entry is 0, count is the number of entries in the array, which is only 0 if the array is empty.

So a count of 1 entry will have a single array entry 0.

Your rand is between 0 and 1. What happens if 1 is returned? because there is no array entry 1

$rand = rand (0, count ($file_array) - 1);
