Hi,

I have a function that i want to be called the first time on onblur from a text field, and form then on by onKeyUp.  The code i have is:

onKeyUp='if (theirUsedVall == 0) { onblur=checkTheirfields(); } else { onKeyUp=checkTheirfields(); }'

And im setting "var theirUsedVall = 0" at the top of an included .js file.

The problem is that it always calls the function on onKeyUp.  Can any one show me where im going wong please?

Many Thanks.

It's not exactly pretty, but you could do something like:

<script type="text/javascript">
var FIRST = true;
</script>

function doSomethingOnBlur() {
    if(FIRST) FIRST = false;
    //other code
}

function doSomethingOnKeyUp() {
    if(FIRST) return true;
    //other code
}

then something like:

onkeyup="doSomethingOnKeyUp();" onblur="doSomethingOnBlur();"

A more elegant solution would be to remove the onblur listener at the beginning of the onblur function and add a keyup listener at the end of the function.
