Hi,all.Recently i meet a mysql5.1.32-win32.exe on my computer with winXP SP2 installed in.And i caught the errorcode:1067 when start mysql service. Then i search on google, someone sugguested that i should copy my.ini to C:\windows,but it doesn't work. And finally i solve it by reading the err file and delete all ibdata files and iblogfile files and start mysql service sucessfully.Still,Is it nesscary to copy my.ini to C:\windows?

I think the problem is because you don't select te option "INCLUDE PATH....." in the config wizard.

if you like to put the my.ini on mysql directory

Solution 1:

Add the path manually (google: winxp path)

Solution 2:

Run again the config wizard, but if you have data make a backup firts; and select the option to include the path.

Thanks very much, but it seems that all of you didn't know my mean,i had include path and my mysql server start sucessfully. Moreover,i just is it necessary to place my.ini in C:\Windows :'(,except that i caught a problem which seems usally happened to anybody else,it's that when i first setup mysql-5.1.32-win32.msi and then follow the "mysql server instance config wizard"while in the last step fails to start mysql severice,it's so strange,so can anybody help me?

Some times when the wizard is executing the configuration (the last step) report a error for the mysql services start, check if the service name don't exist. if exist and you don't use it you can erase it.

Another idea is try with a different version of mysql.
