Problem with getting sessions to work

hi. I'm fairly new to php and I have PHP5 and an apache installed. I can get php scripts to run fine but when i'm working with sessions,I can't get session variables to work. Do I need to change something in my php.ini file? Thank you for any help that I can get.

Here is what my session section looks like in my php.ini file:

yes.here is a simple one that is suppose to work but doesn't.
