.htaccess file

Having http://domain.com/ramesh show http://domain.com?id=ramesh is easy enough, but I'm not sure you could use a .htaccess exclusively for a sub-domain. Doing the actual redirect of the URL is simple enough, but I believe you would need the sub-domain to point to your server in the DNS. Which would require further setting up.
