Adding html to a link

I'm not sure what you mean, but I guess like this:

How can I make this line of code have id="link"

$content .= '<a id="link" href="buying.php?pg=' . $i . '">' . $i . '</a>' . "  ";

Otherwise, please provide more information on what exactly you want

Hmm, basically this page www.sampleestateagent.com/buying.php if you click on 3 numbers of properties per page and the links come up to change the page, they're  white because of the css is set to do that but with id="link"it's meant to be black but it's still white
