webmaster1
Firstly, SMF is my preference. I've never worked with vbulletin. I am however, a member of a few forums powered by vbulletin. In my experience with SMF, it offers a dandy feature whereby it suggests dual or multiple accounts under the one IP address. Let's say, for whatever reasons, disingenuous or not, one wants to return to a vbulletin powered forum without being identified by way of IP i.e. correlated to previous/existing accounts, how would one go about this? trq
You would use a proxy. Nothing to do with php. Quote Link to comment https://forums.phpfreaks.com/topic/185179-is-it-possible-to-mask-your-ip-from-vbulletin/#findComment-977558 Share on other sites
webmaster1
Cheers, venerated alumni. I thought proxies 'blocked' IP addresses rather than 'substituting' them but going by your suggestion I guess not. webmaster1
The proxy approach doesn't seem to work on vbulletin. I get this message when I log in regularly: You have been banned for the following reason: Account suspended. Date the ban will be lifted: Never When I attempt to reregister using a proxy I get the following message: Sorry, registration has been disabled by the administrator. Can anyone help me out with this or at the very least explain to me what might be going on? trq
More than likely vbulletin ships with a list of known proxies and will not let anyone register from those ip addresses. Seems your out of luck. Quote Link to comment https://forums.phpfreaks.com/topic/185179-is-it-possible-to-mask-your-ip-from-vbulletin/#findComment-981135 Share on other sites
