mark_smith
Hey guys, I was wondering, if anyone of you have shifted using Paid Red Hat Linux with CentOS, and what are your experiences of moving from Paid Linux to Unpaid Linux CenOS. When do you suggest a person use Paid Linux and when to use Unpaid Linux?
trq
I wouldn't ever pay for Linux, but that's just me. Allot of companies need to have service agreements in place to ensure there maintenance. If your a small business you may be able to use CentOS without problem if you just hire the right people and provide your own support. I'm not sure how, but the company I work for has to that we have supplied maintenance in place in order to comply with the Sarbanes–Oxley Act. This leads to various issue with free or open-source software at times.
lynxus
We pay for Redhat enterprise. Its not bad. The support is good and we also pay for redhat satalite ( so we can do decent package management for our systems ) While, i would personally stick to centos. I fyour business really wants it, Just go to RHEL.
