Dawnblade
Hello! I started building my website this past summer. I learned a little of html over 10 years ago so I needed a refresher. I then proceeded to learn from online tutorials and trial and (mostly) errors how to operate Microsoft Expression Web and asp.net and stuff that goes with that (some ajax toolkit, C#, silverlight, etc). As I started to stuff to my website, I came across things that used PHP such as wordpress and phpbb. I have been delaying learning php. However, I might be forced to get a Mac for college (to work with music recording and composition). I figure it would be a good time to get started on php since I from my understanding asp.net doesn’t run in on non-windows OS since it requires the windows server stuff. According to my research, php will work just fine for my purposes, so I decided to jump in. I look forward to bugging you guys with all sorts of silly/stupid questions. By the way, could anyone tell me what the php equivalent of the asp.net master page is? Link to comment https://forums.phpfreaks.com/topic/186607-hello/ Share on other sites

Adam
Welcome! Going by the very little I know of ASP.NET master pages, I'm afraid PHP doesn't have an equivalent built-in feature such as that. Although remember PHP is a programming language, ASP.NET is a framework. I'm sure you'll be able to find a PHP-based framework out there that offers something very similar. SMARTY may be something you might like to look into. Link to comment https://forums.phpfreaks.com/topic/186607-hello/#findComment-985970 Share on other sites
