PHP/MySQL/iPhone

I'm building a PHP website with a MySQL database. When customers make purchases on the site the PHP site will write to the database. Here's the catch. My brother is working on the iPhone app. To save customers from having to input their credit card info at our site we are building an iPhone app that will use in app purchasing to buy our products. Here's the question...

Can an "in-app" purchase from the iPhone write to the MySQL database on my Linux hosting account. It's very important that all purchases be recorded in chronological order if they are made from either the web or the iPhone.

Thanks
