ohdang888
Is copying a site's layout and design...very closely ... technically copyright infringement? or if you just change the logos, etc, is that legal? Thanks. Link to comment https://forums.phpfreaks.com/topic/192555-what-exactly-is-copyrighted-on-the-internet/ Share on other sites
Daniel0
http://en.wikisource.org/wiki/Universal_Copyright_Convention_(Geneva_Act) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Berne_Convention_for_the_Protection_of_Literary_and_Artistic_Works http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Universal_Copyright_Convention There exist no special "internet copyright law". Things are copyrighted as usual. Whether you make a blog post or publish a book doesn't make a difference. ohdang888
ok. so if you use a layout and design that is practically the same as your competitor, then they have grounds sue you? (this is a for a low-budget client) Link to comment https://forums.phpfreaks.com/topic/192555-what-exactly-is-copyrighted-on-the-internet/#findComment-1014511 Share on other sites
Daniel0
Say you take Facebook's layout and just make it yellow instead. That would most likely count as copyright infringement. Anyways, why are you asking for legal advice here (even without stating where you are located)? Go ask your lawyer if you want to make sure you don't end up in legal trouble. TeddyKiller
I always knew that taking websites templates is wrong. However, I never knew they could sue you because of copyright reasons? I thought copyright was only for the content of the said website. Daniel0
However, I never knew they could sue you because of copyright reasons? What's the point of a law if there are no consequences for breaking it? TeddyKiller
I didn't mean wrong as in law wise. I just meant it with opinions. I didn't know taking a template is against the law basically.
