my mp4 video skips when played in browser please help

hi, my mp4 video is 65 mb!! i need to show this video on a web page at 800W by 600H and it is very skippy. is there anything i can do to compress it with free software without losing a lot of quality? here is the code i use to embed it

someone suggessted to convert it to Asf/asx but i cant find a converter to do that. i also wanted to make it so that people cant download or steal the videos because they are instructional videos that im going to charge for on my website. any help greatly appreciated. thank you. derek
