thewooleymammoth
Ive got the start of a site going. and im doing this for way cheaper than i want too. So i dont want to do anything too time consuming. http://gnm.ericwooley.com my client (barely) says its just not lively enough and its too basic. Anyone have any ideas to liven up the site? I am already gonna change the links so please dont suggest that, those are just temporary Quote Link to comment https://forums.phpfreaks.com/topic/200940-more-lively/ Share on other sites

Dont be afraid to tell me it sucks... but atleast tell me why Quote Link to comment https://forums.phpfreaks.com/topic/200940-more-lively/#findComment-1054423 Share on other sites
ignace
and im doing this for way cheaper than i want too A common mistake that will keep haunting you. You can't wait until this project is over and you receive your payment. You think, this is the last time I ever do that. Wrong! He'll start telling his friends of this "cheap webdesigner" he knows, and they'll start knocking on your door expecting to not pay more then he did. Basically, this project bought you a one-way ticket to hell Instead of your worth going up, it goes down as any price above this price is seen as unfair. Read: http://freelanceswitch.com/money/the-price-is-right/ And more broadly: http://freelanceswitch.com/blog/explore/#2 Working for a cheap price is depressing, it takes away creativity and motivation. And the result scares away both visitors and prospects. Quote Link to comment https://forums.phpfreaks.com/topic/200940-more-lively/#findComment-1054545 Share on other sites
thewooleymammoth
i agree. Although i explicitly expressed to him that this is a one time thing because he was helping out a good friend of mine with a big business deal. However, i do not htink i will be doing it again no matter what the circumstances. That is very good advice. Also they have decided to go with megento and a prebuilt theme now... which is what i suggested in the first place (since they were on such a tight budget). Kinda pisses me off. Anyways thanks for the good advice. Quote Link to comment https://forums.phpfreaks.com/topic/200940-more-lively/#findComment-1054719 Share on other sites
thewooleymammoth
After a discussion about goals and pricing i ended up dropping the client. I was thinking though, could i resell this as a template? make any money that way? any suggestions of good sites to do that through? Thanks. ignace
Yeah you could sell it as a template but you won't get more then $65 or if you are extremely lucky (and Photoshop skill level increases this luck) you can sell it as a unique template ~$1500 http://www.templatemonster.com Quote Link to comment https://forums.phpfreaks.com/topic/200940-more-lively/#findComment-1054941 Share on other sites

thewooleymammoth
really? What would you put instead of the green? (keep in mind that thats the logo color and they wanted lively and to get on with the whole go green be eco friendly thing) Quote Link to comment https://forums.phpfreaks.com/topic/200940-more-lively/#findComment-1054956 Share on other sites
Tazerenix
maybe soften down the green, or, keep the same color, but reduce the area its used in. It just, when you open the page, the top parts is almost all that color, and it can be a bit offputting. Maybe you could get some grass-type renders and put them up there?
