hey all.

i'm having a problem here. i'm trying to upload a table into the database. i've tried .csv, excel, .txt, word... and none work. if i select DATA as my upload method i get the following error:
#1045 - Access denied for user: 'clearpo_master@localhost' (Using password: YES)

and if i use DATA LOCAL i get:
#1148 - The used command is not allowed with this MySQL version

so im confused. ive tried it every which way except the right way apparently. im running phpMyAdmin 2.5.3 with MySQL 4.0.24.

if anyone could give me a tip, i'd appreciate it.

What does the dump in the file you're trying to upload look like? Have you tried using .SQL files? Can you paste part of the data here so we cam see in what format you're trying to upload it?

Sure, it is very simple data:

I tried saving it as .sql and upload it..same results. The column headers are exactly the same as the database headers...same results:

prodnum size cup style color status discontinued
0200000000 0 0 0 0 0 0
0207000000 0 0 0 0 0 0
0218000000 0 0 0 0 B/O 0
0218003200 32 0 0 White B/O 1
0218003400 34 0 0 White 0 0
0218003600 36 0 0 White 0 0
0218003800 38 0 0 White 0 0
0218004000 40 0 0 White 0 0
0218004200 42 0 0 White 0 0
0218004400 44 0 0 White 0 0
0218004600 46 0 0 White 0 0
0218004800 48 0 0 White 0 0

your password might be wrong, or you have incorrect privileges for that userid. :)

Jenk,

Yes, I think that is my main issue...I'm not sure how to change my privileges..I assumed I was the 'God' admin...but for some reason it will not allow me to upload this data. Any idea where I can change user privileges?

you can view the privileges in mysql with:
SHOW GRANTS FOR USER 'user'
