Minklet
Can anyone tell me why the page is 'flashing' when it loads each page quite so badly on this wordpress theme? It's even quite bad when super cache is turned on, I can't think of the correct terminology to find any help on google. Searching for 'website flashes etc' brings up loads of flash stuff of course. http://subverb.net/jamcafe/ Link to comment https://forums.phpfreaks.com/topic/205426-unusual-page-loading-behaviour/ Share on other sites
Pikachu2000
Not sure what you mean. It looks fine to me on Mac OS X with Safari 4. Link to comment https://forums.phpfreaks.com/topic/205426-unusual-page-loading-behaviour/#findComment-1075021 Share on other sites
Minklet
Ah, well in IE and FireFox it reloads the page quite noticably, whereas it wasn't doing that on my localhost. There's barely any images on it so it shouldnt take as long as it does. But you can see the whole page 'flash' the colour of the header. It just looks poor, I know it's a problem with my code, but I can't figure out what. Maybe it's my host, but it shouldnt be so bad when Super Cache is turned on because then it's just static html files. Also, its worse in Firefox than IE (for once), Chrome isn't as bad. Pikachu2000
It could be just network latency between you and the server. Have a look at your ping response time to that domain. Minklet
Excuse my ignorance, how do I find that? Link to comment https://forums.phpfreaks.com/topic/205426-unusual-page-loading-behaviour/#findComment-1075034 Share on other sites
Minklet
I am looking at google before posting on here, I'm not just asking stupid questions for the sake of it. Ive looked at firebug and it says the onload time for my entire page is 2.51s. Pikachu2000
To ping, you can (should be able to) just use a command prompt and type "ping subverb.net". It should show the response times. Minklet
Anybody shed some light on why this might be happening? Something is not right with how it is loading. Pikachu2000
That's about 4 times as long as I was getting. I was averaging about 45ms. Could be at least part of the reason. Not sure if output buffering would help in this situation or not. Maybe someone else can answer that.
