In fact, if you don't know exactly what you are doing, I highly discourage the entire concept. Setting up such an application requires a lot of time and money. To process transactions yourself, you need to be 100% PCI Compliant (also: Wikipedia). Perhaps I am not getting exactly what you are trying to do, but your client better be ready to fork out more than $50 for some cheesy script you found online, or be prepared to get sued back to the stone-age when, and I say when, people's sensitive information is exposed.
