Can I assign an array straight into $_SESSION?

I want $_SESSION to just automatically assign it's values and keys based on another array.

Something like:

 

$_SESSION = mysql_fetch_array($query);

 

I'm trying to fetch a record of a user and have all the data and keys in that record assign directly to the session, so if the table consisted of columns such as 'username' and 'userlevel' etc, would I be able to use the above snippet and use $_SESSION['username'] to recall the username of the record, $_SESSION['userlevel'] to recall the user level, you get the idea.
