I have finished the bulk of my website now... it has been tested in almost every web browser that BrowserShots has to offer and viewed on a total of 5 different computers, each with a different browser.  I *think* I have ironed out all of the kinks, but I may have missed some.

Further, the 3D section is not completed (I do not have all of my work to hand and am still requesting them from the person who has them at the moment) and the contact page needs updating.. but this shouldn't defect the point and design of the website.

Feel free to browse, pick holes, beat, pummel and tell me anything that you think is wrong with it (design, functionality and display errors).  I am submitting this website to potential employers, so if you don't like it... they may not for the same reasons.  (I am updating the site to include a dynamic news section in PHP, but this won't be up for a little bit yet).

Thanks for any advise or info.  (PS, if you find any errors with the display or functionality of the site, please let me know the following:

- Your browser and version

- Your screen resolution, and

- Whether you have JavaScript enabled / disabled <--- good point.. I haven't added any non-JS support to it yet... hmm)

I like it, simple and to the point. I also like the elegant text but I do think you should use actual text rather than images for the SEO side of your website. I'm sure you could use custom fonts? I read your CV which was well laid out and professionally written however, this part:

I was asked to return to the Metropolitan Hotel as a Techno Butler as the hotel were short staffed within the IT Department and were satisfied with my abilities, knowledge and skills around the hotel. I returned to work at the hotel full‐time over the summer period.

Didn't make sense to me at first as your CV is laid out in reverse chronological order so this is read before your previous employment here is mentioned.

Thats all I could find, nothing significant. W3C validated your XHTML, although I don't know why you're  using XHTML rather than HTML 4.01?

XHTML 2 to be discontinued

It was supposed to be the biggest reform project in the history of the W3C. Yesterday, however, the web standardisation committee pulled the plug on XHTML 2, a project that had been on the road to disaster for years. According to the development schedule, the XHTML2 Working Group charter expires at the end of the year and will not be extended.

I understand your point in regards to the CV... although I never really like the idea of reverse chronological order, as it gives the impression that a prospective employer will not read your entire CV.  If they don't want to read your CV, you won't be getting that interview which kind of 'defunks' the point of reverse chronological order... unless you are applying for a really good job and your work experience is 'McDonalds... KFC... Tesco' :).

I note your point about XHTML and HTML 4.01, however as you may notice that my site is coded in XHTML 1.0.  The article you post is in regards to XHTML 2.0 is being discontinued ... it then continues to say they are doing this to:

XHTML2 Working Group wants to focus on making corrections to the XHTML 1.1 specifications.

So, if I understand correctly, my XHTML document is still safe for a little while.

I may at a later point drop XHTML in favour of HTML 5, as I like the sound of its capabilites... I just prefer XHTML personally because I believe it is a well formatted (and forces you to format well), whereas HTML in my opinion is a little sloppy... (e.g. self contained tags must be closed with " />" whereas HTML doesn't).

I won't start an XHTML vs HTML debate here :).  But thanks for the comments Andy!

Any more? :D
