I'm trying to work out standardized formats for storing phone numbers, mobile numbers in a MySQL database.

 

Is there a standard length and format for storing a phone number in "international format" in MySQL?

 

What do you think is the longest a phone number can be?

 

It should be stored as VARCHAR not INT, right?

There is no standard format available to store phone numbers. Also there is no max. fixed length. You can use international code along with phone numbers, so phone numbers will always be of variable length. Just use 'VARCHAR' and fix the length according to your application requirement.
