jayarsee
I've integrated my application with some features that are unique to the /proc file system and I was wondering if, in doing so, I've lost all portability to non-Red Hat distributions. If not, what distributions also implement /proc? Neither Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Procfs#Linux Nor Google were helpful in answering this question for me. Any examples are much appreciated. Thank you! Link to comment https://forums.phpfreaks.com/topic/212150-are-there-non-red-hat-distributions-that-use-proc/ Share on other sites
trq
You will find /proc in all but some virtual and embedded Linux distributions as far as I'm aware. It is a fairly integral part of the OS. jayarsee
I see. Almost all of the distribution-specific documentation that Google turned up for it was for Red Hat so that led me to believe it might have been less generic. I am more familiar with NetBSD and am a little unclear in general on what Linux features are vendor-specific. Hopefully I'm not the only one who would ask for an apparently obvious answer on this and your response helps someone other than me.
