The Little Guy
Where I am, I try to ping google, and it takes about 1 - 1.5 ms is there anyway I can decrease that (Linux Kubuntu)? ping google.com -c 4 PING google.com (209.85.225.147) 56(84) bytes of data. 64 bytes from iy-in-f147.1e100.net (209.85.225.147): icmp_seq=1 ttl=47 time=1475 ms 64 bytes from iy-in-f147.1e100.net (209.85.225.147): icmp_seq=2 ttl=47 time=1222 ms 64 bytes from iy-in-f147.1e100.net (209.85.225.147): icmp_seq=3 ttl=47 time=780 ms 64 bytes from iy-in-f147.1e100.net (209.85.225.147): icmp_seq=4 ttl=47 time=1479 ms --- google.com ping statistics --- 4 packets transmitted, 4 received, 0% packet loss, time 6489ms rtt min/avg/max/mdev = 780.927/1239.658/1479.863/284.532 ms, pipe 2 I used speedtest.net, and it said I downloaded at about 1.5mb/s, so I believe my issue is with my ping/latency. Any suggestions on how to speed it up?
JasonLewis
Use www.pingtest.net, I'm not sure how you can increase speed. But I do know that it's not all about the speed. I think it depends on things such as a wireless connection, wired, the type of broadband connection (cable, satellite, wireless etc) and many other factors. Could be your ISP as well, might help to give them a call and see what the go is.
