Anyone recommend any OOP training courses in the UK?

Mr Chris

Recommended Posts

Hello All,

I currently code in procedural PHP, but am now in a position to start learning OOP in PHP.

Now i'm hoping to get my company to pay for a course in the UK (Ideally in the South East/London but if up North or elsewhere then that's fine).

Anyone been to any training courses or heard of any that they can recommend and can post the links to?

Thanks

I can't confirm anything, but perhaps one of the bigger companies which offer training might be able to help (e.g. Ibuildings).  Failing that, I might be able to get you a short list of folks who offer consulting/training and could travel to you, if that sounds like a good plan.

Hi again, just a quick follow up on some messages that I sent out to folks who offer training.  Training an individual might get expensive (though, that's a relative term) and it's more usual to train a team to balance out the expense, would there be other people in your company to train up as well?

Ibuildings offer introduction to OOP courses and are based in London, or I could give you details of a PHP consultant who is amazing and she's cheaper than them. Other ideas: there is some OOP content in the Zend course "PHP II: Higher Structures", which is delivered as a classroom course by NTI in Leeds (see http://www.ntileeds.co.uk/) and finally, Lorna wrote a series of articles about OOP which might come in valuable: the first, of four, is at http://thinkvitamin.com/code/getting-started-with-oop-php5/

If its NTI in Leeds that could possibly be Simon Sharpe, I have been taught by him, when I was at University, hes a great guy, great at PHP.

Had us doing an Ecommerce site when working on our first attempt at PHP, was merely asking us to see how far we could get with it.

I got a 1st from him, hes a great tutor!
