You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near ... line 1

 

 

its to do with the code below?  what did i do wrong?

$query1=  mysql_query("UPDATE Users SET \"address 1\"='$address1', \"address 2\"='$address2', city='$city', \"post code\"='$postcode', email='$email', \"contact number\"='$contactnumber' WHERE name='$name'") or die (mysql_error());

No need for quotes around field names . . . If you feel compelled to enclose them in anything, use backticks ` `

 

You could also separate the query out of the execution and store it in a variable so you can echo it when you have problems like this.
