wbednarz
I am planning ahead here. I will be working on this in the next couple of weeks. I need to create a scheduled to run daily. My host provider said they could set up the cron jobs for me if I submit the requests to the admin (I don't want to depend on them, and would rather come up with something myself if I can). I was told I could not create the cron jobs myself (I believe it was because I am on a shared server and it is against there policy, or something like that). I have a shell account (gnu bash) and php. Can this be done with these tools? I am using value web, which has worked very well for me. If anyone here is familiar with their toolset and could suggest something, I would appreciate it. I am not asking someone to write the code for me, just some direction on online references to review or whether or not this can be done with what I mentioned. Thank you. trq
If you have shell access you *should* be able to configure your own cron jobs. Of course, your host may also have disabled this functionality.
