Xdega
Hi. I just need quick clarification on how to go about ADDING or SUBTRACTING a number in a table column. (In this case the column is ND_POINTS in a table called players I have the following snippet: //MODIFY THE "players" TABLE POINT VALUE if($type == "ADDED"){ mysql_query("UPDATE players SET ND_POINTS = 'ND_POINTS+$amount' WHERE PLAYER_NAME = '$username'"); }else { mysql_query("UPDATE players SET ND_POINTS = 'ND_POINTS-$amount' WHERE PLAYER_NAME = '$username'"); } This doesn't appear to be working, What am I missing ? I tried without the ND_POINTS and was able to get it to change the value of the cell to +/- "$amount", But I am having trouble trying to get it to edit the current value of the cell (which is what I am trying to accomplish) Thanks. trq
Columns are not string, they don't need quotes around them. if ($type == "ADDED") { mysql_query("UPDATE players SET ND_POINTS = ND_POINTS+$amount WHERE PLAYER_NAME = '$username'"); } else { mysql_query("UPDATE players SET ND_POINTS = ND_POINTS-$amount WHERE PLAYER_NAME = '$username'"); } Link to comment https://forums.phpfreaks.com/topic/218355-trouble-addingsubtracting-current-cell-data/#findComment-1132910 Share on other sites
