WTFranklin
Hi everyone, I'm not sure if this would be the correct place to post this or if it's just a really dumb question, but I've been hearing about database abstraction layers a lot lately but I was just trying to get a better idea of what they are exactly. Is it a way of obscuring your db queries by calling functions or methods to help prevent security issues or something like that? Thanks for any info! -Frank Link to comment https://forums.phpfreaks.com/topic/220954-database-abstraction-layers/ Share on other sites

Essentially, it separates the database interface/API from the actual underlying store, making it easy to port one's app from platform to platform with minimal fuss.
