gomer
Hi,I am a total noob to php/mysql but I am trying to help someone out. Basically, they want to have a login feature (for wholesalers/distributors) that will log them into their own individual price lists. Not all wholesale prices are going to be the same so each account will have it's own seperate price sheet.I don't think there are going to be a lot of accounts made initially but I figured going the mysql way will leave them room for growth if the company grows like they're anticipating. My question is...how involved/complex is this project going to be? And aside from learning to code php and working with mysql (something I personally have wanted to do for sometime now), are there any alternatives that may not be as time consuming? Thanks for the input.ps. I just found the membership tutorial, may be something of value in there! Quote Link to comment https://forums.phpfreaks.com/topic/22261-no-problemsyet/ Share on other sites
ober
As far as time consuming, I think PHP/MySQL is probably the least time consuming compared to other alternatives.I would definately suggest going that route if the company plans to grow... I assume the other option you're looking at is using flat files or something? As far as the "user-specific" price sheet... that all depends on the complexity of it and how you gather the data. It could be something that you could create in a few hours or a few weeks. Your post is a teeeeeeeeny bit vague on the depth of the project. gomer
It's vague unfortunately because I actually don't have all the specifics. The company manufactures clothing so I'm assuming it's just going to be a price breakdown for the individual items and the prices will be determined not only by quantity ordered, ie. 500 t-shirts @ $2.00 per shirt but also how often the wholesaler orders. So company A who orders 500 t-shirts once a month may get them for $2.00 versus company B who orders 500 t-shirts once a week might get them for $1.50.I should be able to get all the details tonight. Thanks for the quick reply too. Quote Link to comment https://forums.phpfreaks.com/topic/22261-no-problemsyet/#findComment-99691 Share on other sites
