PHP memory usage optimization

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

On my production server ExpressionEngine (CMS) uses 9.9MB memory but on my dev server it uses 16.7MB memory.  According to ExpressionEngine support, this is displayed using

memory_get_usage

.

My dev server is running a pretty standard package of Debian, MySQL 5.5, PHP 5.3 and Apache 2.2 - all are compiled from source.

Is anyone able to assist me in finding out why the memory usage is so different between two relatively similar configurations?  The production server is running Apache 1.3 which is a major difference but I wouldn't expect that to be the cause of twice the memory usage when moving to Apache 2.2.

Thanks in advance.  :)
