Ajax noob Please help

hey guys!

 

I've been struggling with this for a few hours now. I'm simply trying to send data to a page without refreshing but my final page cant seem it get the data.

 

Here is my code

<a onclick=sendlink('testdata')>

(this part works fine I tested it using an alert and its being called)

 

upon clicking this link this code gets called:

then on my search.php page I have

<?php echo $_GET['data'];?>

 

I've tried both POST and GET neither work (I actually want to use POST though)

 

I just cant seem to get the data to echo out on the search page.

Simply echoing it wont work. You need to send the data back to JavaScript and then have JavaScript place the output in some element on the current page.

ok what if I dont need to echo it at all. Can I just send information to a page say to save the data in a database?
