Can i use php to edit .cfg files?

Hello,
Is there a way that i can create a php form to reed in data from a .cfg file, prefrably on a diffrent server, thats not in the web directory, and then alow the data to be altered and saved back into the file?

The file would have an area looking as follows.

you could use php to create and remove files on other severs.

you're not allowed to rewrite files on other servers!  web hosts and webmasters work to keep people from doing that.  if you could do that then microsofts home page would be forever full of microsoft insults!

You could do it via php and FTP into the server and replace the file... But if you mean to do this for destructive purposes youre on the wrong website :P

not distructive, all the files and servies are mine!  What about on the same server though?
