Nuser
I am a MySQL newbie. To complete the install quickly to play with it I entered no password. I was then unable to connect to the service using MySQL Admin. I did start the MySQL service and it is running. I took all defaults on the install.Since I could not connect I uninstalled MySQL, rebooted, deleted the MySQL directory, re-installed, entered a password this time during config, but it still fails to connect and says my pwd is probably invalid. Where is it hiding the old pwd? I delete c:\pf\mysql. Is it some other problem? Should I always expect a default install of the latest MySQL on Windows XP to be so difficult? I am about to give up and just go with the free version of MS SQL server.
Nuser
Never mind. I already downloaded Microsoft's SQL Server 2005 free edition and it was MUCH easier to get going with.
