Hi,

- my initial goal was to establish a linked table synchronization between a local running MS access database and a remote mysql database via myODBC.

- i provided the host, username, pasw but i got the error:

HY000][MySQL][ODBC 5.1 Driver]Can?t connect to MySQL server on dbvoorwebshop.db.8957115.hostedresource.com

- then i wanted to manually write a script for getting the records of MS ACCESS database and store them into the mysql database.

However now, I get a timed out message saying my script cannot connect to the mysql database.

- the mysql database holds tables for OSCOMMERCE (webshop)

- via the adminpanel, the backend of oscommerce, im able to read, write the database so the mysql database should work.. :S

- I provided the good hostname, usern, pasw

I don't know what's going wrong :S

did you grant permissions to remote logins for that user?

This will grant permissions to that user from any location (not suggested):

GRANT ALL on database_name.* TO user_name@'%';

If you know your IP address where you're connecting from, you can do this:

GRANT ALL on database_name.* TO user_name@'123.45.67.89' ;
