I am just getting started with ajax and have copied a script from a book im using to learn which polls a page from the server and times the response and display the last few responses.  However what i would find more useful is polling a page from a different server with the aim of creating a page whcihc would poll a few servers i have to deal with and showing wether there was a response so i can see if a server goes offline.

However when i try to change the url it looks for the url in the parent directory of the pages url.  I was wondering if it is possible to poll a different server to the one the aplication resides on or wether there is something i am missing in the code.
