elcabron10
I am facing this problem, everything works perfect except it shows all the data form the mysql column(DeptName). What i want is to only display the data once. eg. if the column contains two same name like (IT Department) it must only display one name (IT Department) in the dropdown list. Please advise. <tr> <td>Department</td> <td> <?php mysql_connect('localhost','root','admin') or die ('Could not fetch data from database.'); mysql_select_db('dctvmaindb') or die ('Connection could not be established.'); $query = mysql_query("SELECT DeptName FROM tbldepartmentlist"); $options = ""; while($result=mysql_fetch_array($query)) { $options .= '<option value= "' .$result['DeptName'].'">' .$result['DeptName'].'</option>'; } ?> <select id="Department" name="Department"> <?php echo $options; ?> </select> </td> </tr> Quote Link to comment https://forums.phpfreaks.com/topic/285302-display-data-from-mysql-column-only-once/ Share on other sites
Solution kicken Posted January 12, 2014 Solution Share Posted January 12, 2014 Use the DISTINCT keyword in your query. SELECT DISTINCT DeptName FROM tbldepartmentlist Quote Link to comment https://forums.phpfreaks.com/topic/285302-display-data-from-mysql-column-only-once/#findComment-1464913 Share on other sites
