Display data from mysql column only once

I am facing this problem, everything works perfect except it shows all the data form the mysql column(DeptName). What i want is to only display the data once. eg. if the column contains two same name like (IT Department) it must only display one name (IT Department) in the dropdown list. Please advise.

Use the DISTINCT keyword in your query.

SELECT DISTINCT DeptName FROM tbldepartmentlist
