xZippy
For those of you who recall 3dBuzz's PHP/MySQL tutorials (if you never seen them you could still understand my problem). Buzz used MySQL 3.23.49. The newest version is 5.0.27 and that's the one I got from this link here http://dev.mysql.com/downloads/mysql/5.0.html. This is so confusing, Buzz installs it like no problem with his version, but mine asks for all this sign up stuff and I don't know what settings to put them on.Plus, me and Buzz pretty much had the same directory, but his drive was K:\ as mine is C:\. When we got to that \bin folder he typed "mysqld --standalone" and in his task manager he saw "mysqld.exe" running, for me it was "mysqld-nt.exe" for some reason. Then (while still in the /bin dir) he typed "mysqladmin status" and his status came up, but gave 'me' like a "can't find localhost" error. I even checked my services and MySQL was running. I could never be more appreciative in the world if someone helped me with this.
