pioneerx01
I need to add date of birth field to registration form and then save it to databse. I cannot figure out what might be best way of storing the date in the table. I could convert it to unix epoch time, or I could do YYYYMMDD. Thoughts? What would be the easiest method of saving the DOB? I am not asking on how to do it, just the format. Jacques1
MySQL has a DATE type for exactly that purpose. Quote Link to comment https://forums.phpfreaks.com/topic/290786-best-way-to-save-date-of-birth-to-database/#findComment-1489567 Share on other sites
Ch0cu3r
When inserting values into the database they should be in their rawest state. Not formatting should be applied. As you storing a date you should use a date type as field type. You can then use MySQL's Date and Time aggregate functions (or PHP's date and time functions) to format the user s DOB it into a human readable format eg convert 2002-02-08 into Feb 8th 2002 Quote Link to comment https://forums.phpfreaks.com/topic/290786-best-way-to-save-date-of-birth-to-database/#findComment-1489569 Share on other sites
