installing ATOM on OpenSuse - which method & packages ?

You just need to wget the rpm and install it: wget https://github.com/atom/atom/releases/download/v1.26.1/atom.x86_64.rpm

Then do zypper install atom.x86_64.rpm

Once you have it running, you might want to do a bit of googling for packages that will help with what you are doing with Python. There's a pretty complete how-to here.

And another one here.

good evening dear gizmola,

wow - many thanks for the quick reply. I will have a closer look at  the above mentioned list.

I just have installed eric - a python ide which is not so useful and additonally has got some nasty behaviour. The setup of a new project is just not working propperly.

now i try atom. I have heard a lot of it! And the support of github is told to be fantastic.

Dear gizmola:  Again many many thanks for all your help!! I follow your steps that help me to install atom on Opensuse.

btw: I am overwhelmed by this great community.  - it is such a great experience!!

This is such a great site!! I am very glad to be here;)
