w32 Posted December 23, 2006 Share Posted December 23, 2006 Hello I'm having some trouble trying to get some matches of this textJames Gosling, Ph.D (born May 19, 1955 near Calgary, Alberta, Canada) is a famous software developer, best known as the father of the Java programming language.If I was looking in a string for "James Gosling" how can I do to get that match with preg_match_all? c4onastick Posted December 24, 2006 Share Posted December 24, 2006
preg_match_all('/\bJames Gosling\b/', $string, $matches);
This is very very general. It assumes you don't have things like:
Blah blah blah JamesGosling was a great inventor of the...
It will only match the literal string "James - space - Gosling". Tell us a bit more about the data you want to look through and we can offer a more specific (read: robust) solution. Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
