Jim1
Hi, my name is Jim and I'm new to PHP.I have experience in HTML and JavaScript, and I was wondering if I could get some help with making this Design-Library website for a game called Age of Empires.I am a scenario designer in this game, and I would like to create a help-website for other designers. I have the website already set up HERE. However it is empty and has no articles, as I don't know how to create a database with search capabilities. In essence I'm trying to replicate something like THIS.I had read that this is possible with PHP and MySQL, yet I have a few questions:1. Will I need to purchase any software before I begin? (If it is possible with shareware tools, it would be best)2. I need someone point me in the right directions and perhaps give an example or two.I don't need you to hold my hand and walk me through it, but I would appreciate it if you if you could give me as much information as possible. Thanks,Jim
mattd8752
PHP can be done with notepad, but if you like there are php editors that can check your syntax, you need a PHP host with database support, and you should look for a news system tutorial on google, don't copy it, but that would give an exact example of what you will eventually be forming. Jim1
Ah thanks for the reference. But I’m looking for something a little more detailed then a news system. If you’ll check out my 2nd link, it kinda needs to be something like that; with search and categorization capability.Oh and the website is meant to be viewed in minimum 1024 by 768 resolution, in full screen mode (f11). mattd8752
Start with a news system, then add a search feature, once you've built the news system it will be much easier for you to understand.
