Can't connect to my Apache Server

My Apache Server is running on port 8080. I can connect to it locally with http://192.168.1.102:8080, but when I try to use my external IP  http://76.178.xxx.xx:8080 it doesn't work. Which makes me think I have a firewall problem. I turned on Norton Internet Security, and I believe my router ports are forwarded properly.

Why can't people connect to my computer with my external IP address?

This a problem with resolving local network addresses, try accessing your page thru a web proxy like http://www.hidemyass.com/

I think if you want to access your site from your own network you need another virtual server for that purpose, but I think that causes problems in itself.

p.s. try and find a proxy close to you physically! can be really slow. Carefull of the cache.
