rantsh
I'm looking for an easy distro for me to configure a test LAMP server at home... I've been checking out Ubuntu server but I'm planning to install it in a VERY VERY old PC, so I don't know how good it will run... That PC used to run Win98 and has 64 MB of RAM... (It's a Celeron from the first ones, the PII-wannabes).Anyway, I'm just feeling lazy to go installiing debian and then installing everything one by one in it... What do you think guys? Daniel0
You should be aware that the server edition does only give you CLI, but you can install a window handler this way:
aptitude install ubuntu-desktop
If you are using it as a test server only, then I don't think there should be any problems running it. SamLiu
You have to change the boot configuration on the text installer because by default it requires you to have 192mb ram. I documented my breezy server installation + the upgrade to 7.04 Fiesty Fawn if you're interested. It really is easy.
Guardian-Mage
The ubuntu server works excellent on low end machines so you should have much of a problem
