s0c0
Give me some feedback on this site I've developed, this is my first php/mysql app! Please answer the following questions: 1. Would you use something like this? 2. Do you think this has some potential? http://www.mp3crib.com Enjoy. Oh and if the streaming seems to lag thats because it's currently running on a residential line my upload is about 400 Kbps Link to comment https://forums.phpfreaks.com/topic/42082-solved-test-this-mp3-storage-streaming-app/ Share on other sites
mattd8752
I haven't tried it, but I have a feeling you could get in copyright trouble for that. s0c0
It's personal storage, you can't share your music with anyone as its password protected and your session times out after a given amount of time. mattd8752
Yes, but alone having MP3 files which are owned by a composer on your site does violate CERTAIN copyright laws. Not all composers have the same terms, but if you read the backs of a CD you have, there usually is a legal notice, or in the book. I don't think this will be good for too much new music, since more recently CDs are being distributed as protected WMAs. s0c0
mp3tunes.com is already doing what I plan on doing. I think overtime I can provide a better service than they can. That's why I am not worried about DRM, copyrights, etc... Now will someone please beta test this? ted_chou12
i tried the playing online thing, and uploaded one song, it doesnt seem to be appearing on the playlists. I believe this involves copyright issues as well. however, i am very much interested in what you are doing, i had found some online music playing javascripts before, if you store your music properly, give each user a folder, and store their music inside, use php to get mp3 file sizes, and store playlists as txt. This is not that hard overall. Good luck. mattd8752
Well, almost all my music is Itunes or protected WMAs so I don't have much to test you're site with. I'll try though. mattd8752
Multiple file uploads at one time would be nice as well. Link to comment https://forums.phpfreaks.com/topic/42082-solved-test-this-mp3-storage-streaming-app/#findComment-206164 Share on other sites
s0c0
I'm working out multiple file uploads...its difficult. BTW, my basement is getting carpet today and so I had to move everything out including my server. That explains why you aren't able to connect right now. aliks0905
great idea dude, sorry I cant test it, but nonetheless, great site...if you get yourself a better connection or buy a box somewhere this thing would be major. Warptweet
He probably wont get into copyright trouble, as the owners of music and their lawyers wont even have access to the music (as he said, the music is private and password protected) therefore, lawyers don't even have a place to BEGIN accusing his website of containing the music. You cannot just randomly start a law case of a suit with no evidence to spark it like that. s0c0
Well the main reason I'm not worried is because of mp3tunes.com they would go down first. I just think I can offer a better product then them and I can an unnamed market niche that has not been very refined at this point. Thanks for looking at this, the biggest problem right now is bandwidth. I connected from work the other day and was getting a whopping 28 kbps connection from my server. I need to get some real hosting for this app and move it out of my basement. I'll repost when that has been completed and I've moved to beta 2 thanks.
